TANZANIA TECH SAFARI

Climbing Kilimanjaro, Connecting with Purpose:
A Conversation with Mark
from Forever Projects

At Club Curation, we believe some experiences leave a mark long after the moment ends. For me, climbing Kilimanjaro in 2016 with Komera was one of those life-altering journeys — the kind that shifts your perspective, recalibrates your values, and connects you to something much bigger than yourself.

So when I came across Forever Projects’ Tanzania Tech Safari, I knew immediately it was something special.

Created by Mark from Forever Projects, this immersive experience blends adventure, leadership, and social impact. I sat down with Mark to explore the intention behind the trip — and why it’s a must for purpose-driven entrepreneurs and creatives looking to grow in a more meaningful way.

introducing mark

Mark is the Founder of Forever Projects, a non-profit dedicated to ending the orphan crisis in Tanzania by equipping women with the tools to create sustainable income and provide critical nutrition for their babies.

Beyond this work, Mark’s deeper purpose lies in curating environments where people can live more confidently and contribute their unique gifts to the world — whether through immersive experiences like the Tanzania Tech Safari, community-driven impact, or simply through the way he shows up in daily life.

The most meaningful environment he curates? His home — with his wife Anna and their six beautiful children.

What inspired the idea of bringing tech leaders to climb Kilimanjaro and connect with Forever Projects?

“We’ve seen time and time again how people return home from Tanzania transformed,” Mark shared. “From when we lived there between 2010–2013, to every friend, family member, or community member who’s visited — no one comes back the same.”

After taking part in leadership immersion trips through the AusNZ tech ecosystem, Mark saw the opportunity to pair the beauty and depth of Tanzanian culture with the hunger many founders feel — to grow, give back, and build legacy with intention.

Who should join this experience, and what will they walk away with?

“This is for people who grow best outside their comfort zone — and who feel most alive in service to others,” Mark explains.

By bringing together a community of high-integrity, values-aligned leaders, the Tanzania Tech Safari becomes more than an itinerary — it becomes a catalyst. “As we steward our resources and networks to help others, we’re changed in the process.”

From personal experience, I can say: standing on top of that mountain changes you. But it’s the journey up — the conversations, the inner recalibration, the stripped-back clarity — that stays with you forever.

What’s one unforgettable moment from a past trip that captures the spirit of the journey?

Mark recalls a couple, Arman and Adriana, who joined a 2017 trip. They’d skipped the traditional wedding and donated their celebration budget to Forever Projects. As part of their honeymoon, they travelled to Tanzania and saw the impact of their generosity firsthand.

“This was the first time I’d ever seen the real-world results of our donation,” Arman said. “It’s one thing to know poverty exists — it’s another to witness both the challenge and the impact of action. It shifted something in me completely.”

What makes this more than just a hike or safari — and why now?

“The trip itself is bucket list-worthy — Kilimanjaro, Serengeti, cultural immersion — but the real magic is what happens in the moments in between,” Mark explains.

He references Dacher Keltner’s work on awe — the kind that opens us up, rewires the nervous system, and reminds us what it feels like to be fully human.

As Richard Dowden puts it:
“Westerners arriving in Africa for the first time often find themselves suddenly cracked open. They lose inhibitions, feel more alive, more themselves, and they begin to understand why, until then, they have only half lived.”
